Workshop in Malmö – join again at
Aalto University
Welcome to our pre conference: Exploring a Pedagogy of Hope through Art
4 March 2025
The main purpose of the pre-conference is to gather the network and get to know each other more which is important for future possible collaboration and network activities. We are one of the largest networks in NERA consisting of over 50 members. In 2024 there were 38 papers and 5 posters or workshops in network. We hope for about 30 members of network at pre-conference. The topic is closely related to NERA conference with an aim to explore a pedagogy of hope through art.
Dutch professor Gert Biesta (University of Edinburgh) will have a keynote at pre conference. The Norwegian associate professors Monica Klungland and Anne Mette Liene (both University of Agder) will host a performative workshop based on their arts based research in an early childhood educational context. Finnish assistant professor Juuso Tervo (Aalto University) will provide some insights into an international project that is currently mapping visual art education across the Nordic countries (EDDA Norden project).
We will host the pre conference in Aalto, School of Arts, Design and Architecture. As some of network members will already be in Aalto for an EDDA meeting until lunch 4 March this is very convenient. Aalto university is easily accessible from Helsinki airport.
As a wrap up of day we will invite participants in pre-conference and also other members who cannot attend during day, to join us in the art museum, this at own cost. We will also book a table at a restaurant so people can join us there in evening (this also at own cost).
Last date for registration February 3, 2025. Send an email: stina.westerlund@umu.se
