About
Network 8: Gender and Education
The aim of the NERA Gender and Education network is to promote and develop discussions within research on gender and education in the Nordic countries. The network covers research on issues regarding, for example, gender, sexuality, LGBTQI, sex education and sexual violations. Our interest is on theoretical and empirical as well as methodological issues and formal as well as informal educational settings.
The network serves as a meeting place for researchers and doctoral students within the field of gender and education in the Nordic countries. The network has two network meetings every year. We meet at the annual network meeting during the conference as well as during a digital meeting during the fall. The network also has an e-mail send list, which is coordinated by the convenor. The aim with the send list is to provide information about events (conferences), recent publications and exchange of information between our members and, between our members and any others interested in Nordic gender research.
The aim of the network is also to be a meeting place for gender researchers between conferences. The exchange of ideas and information has proved crucial for the development of Nordic educational gender research. Historically, this research has developed in the Nordic countries through a close interchange of knowledge between researchers in the area.
