Minutes from Network Meeting, 2026

On Thursday, 5 March 2026, a network meeting was held during the NERA Conference in Aarhus. Below you will find the meeting notes. Kindly provided by Lina Lago and Helene Elvstrand, Network Conveners.

The minutes from last year were reviewed and approved.

Information and Discussion: Abstracts for NERA
We discussed the upcoming NERA abstract submission and emphasised the importance of adhering to NERA’s guidelines on abstract content. It was also noted that, as the conference continues to grow, this may result in more limited room for presentations, which could affect the network.

Network Communication Between Conferences
We discussed communication within the network between conferences. The network’s LinkedIn page currently has very few followers and is therefore not functioning well as a communication channel. We will instead make greater use of the NERA webpage for network-related communication.

Information on NERA’s Journal and Book Series
Information was shared about NERA’s journal Nordic Studies in Education and the new Book Series. The possibility of the network submitting proposals was discussed.

Participants’ Reflections on the 2026 Conference Organisation
In general, participants felt that the conference was well organised. A major point of discussion concerned the poster presentations. Several members expressed that dedicating a full timeslot to posters was unfortunate, as it resulted in more parallel paper sessions and reduced the ability to attend desired presentations. We also discussed the value of posters—whether they are needed, and if so, whether they should be structured differently or further developed. The physical placement of the posters was perceived as peripheral.

Nordic Networking
Nordic networking took up the largest part of the discussion. Experiences from the Pre‑conference were positive, and the group is open to applying for funding from NERA for an official pre‑conference in the future, though 2027 is not considered a suitable year for this. We also discussed the possibility of linking national networks and inviting participants across countries. As a first step to improving communication, a Nordic mailing list will be created. Sofie Sauzet (sosa@kp.dk) will be responsible for the list. If you want to sign up for the list, please send an e-mail to Sofie. Other potential activities, such as digital meetings, were also discussed.
