NERA Network 17: Leisure-time Pedagogy, minutes of the network meeting, March 7th, 2024 The conference organization was discussed. The tight schedule has meant that it has been difficult to move between networks and a risk with this is that the network becomes isolated. If the networks are to function as meeting places where others than the “core group” of the network can be included, it must be possible to move between sessions, and when the sessions are 0 minutes apart, this is not possible. On the plus side, it was highlighted that it has been good that the network has had its sessions placed together in the same room and that sessions have been scheduled after each rather than parallel. We discussed NERA 2025 and ideas and possible activities that can be carried out in the next conference. Since the network this year only had paper presentations and e.g. no symposiums or workshops, this was something that was specifically discussed. We see that e.g. symposiums can contribute to increased Nordic co-operation. The interest in and need for a pre-conference was discussed. Future pre-conference, e.g. 2026 and possible focus in such a conference. One point of discussion was the Swedish-Danish dominance. We discussed whether a pre-conference could be a way to invite researchers from other Nordic countries. Bringing in research from more countries would contribute to increased vitality. There is a LinkedIn group linked to the network. However, this has been used sparsely and we encouraged people to join and use the group to share activities and publications of Nordic relevance in-between conferences. https://www.linkedin.com/groups/12121724/ The role of doctoral students in the network and in NERA as a whole was discussed. Wishes for a PhD course in connection with NERA for example. The network is a potentially important arena for Nordic doctoral students. In Sweden, there is a doctoral network that in the future could be expanded to a Nordic network, but there are few doctoral students in the field in other national contexts. Many of the researchers in the network are also members of the international network, Extended Education, and the relationship between the networks was discussed. For example, it affects the activities in the network that the 2025 extended education conference will be held in Sweden. |
