Participants: 13
- Veronica Sülau opens the meeting and Jaana Nehez takes minutes.
- Presentation round of the 13 participants (from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland)
- Presentation of the agenda and adding of other possible questions. 1 question was added (see No. 9)
- Information of how to be a member in the network (see information on the web)
- Information about the pre-conference activity and the upcoming pre-conference in Aarhus. All participants were encouraged to come up with ideas of school development researchers in Aarhus that can present their research at next year’s pre-conference.
- Information from the convener meeting
- 15 papers, 1 symposium and 2 workshops in Network 24 this year at NERA
- When sending in abstracts – follow the instructions and prioritize two networks like in ECER
- The editor for Nordic Studies in Education presented the opportunity to be a project leader for the Bloomsbury book series. and come up with ideas of themes for Nordic Education Conversations. The conversations are digital and next conference will be held in October. If you are interested or have ideas, contact the editor.
- Information about the school development symposium arranged at NERA 2025 and discussion in small groups about possible themes for a similar symposium, round table or workshop. Ideas that came up:
- another session about voices (part 2)
- how do we conduct analyses when we involve different voices in school development research?
- what does co-researching mean and how it is done – with a critical and constructive edge
- school development research in times of school destruction
- student voices and student agency – a critical view
- who are silent in school development?
- what is the knowledge gap in school development, what are the burning questions/front questions in school development?
- a joint symposium with another network?
The conveners will come back to the network with a date for a digital meeting in May in which the network will decide which ideas to go on with.
8. The network presentation on the web – the conveners encouraged the network members to read the presentation as an assignment to the digital meeting in May. The presentation will then be discussed – does it has to be updated or not?
9. Other questions – research vs development? Some projects presented in the network, but also in other networks this at this years NERA conference have been school development projects rather than research projects. Are the criteria for submission clear? Is the name School Development a good name? Or does it encourage researchers to submit school development projects?
