{"id":397,"date":"2015-06-30T08:07:08","date_gmt":"2015-06-30T08:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nfpf.net\/nera-network-21\/?p=397"},"modified":"2023-05-31T10:43:12","modified_gmt":"2023-05-31T10:43:12","slug":"pre-conference-memo-from-march-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nfpf.net\/nera-network-21\/2015\/06\/30\/pre-conference-memo-from-march-2015\/","title":{"rendered":"Pre-conference memo from March\u00a02015"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Politics of education and education policy studies:&nbsp;Pre-conference meeting at NERA 2015 Gothenburg, March 3,&nbsp; 2015<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Programme<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Opening the pre-conference, getting to know each other, general discussion on the objectives (Taina Saarinen and Arja Haapakorpi to lead discussion)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lunch<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Defining the sub-goals and preparing the action plan<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussion on developing co-operation with other educational research organisations and EERA (present in discussions we have George Head of EERA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussing interest in collaboration on research (Palle Rasmussen to lead discussion)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Discussing options for collaboration in doctoral studies; discussing possibilities for a summer school session for doctoral students (PhD students Sonja Kosunen and Anna Maria Fjellman to lead discussion)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Network 21 meeting at Lillehammer 2014 we observed that we have overlapping activities with NERA and EERA. In other words, there are possibilities for co-operation (either at conferences or between conferences).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There might also be a need for co-operation in (Nordic, European, other) funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nordic co-operation would create possibilities for development of doctoral studies within the field of education policy studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We decided to organize a pre-conference which aims at promoting Nordic collaboration of researchers in education policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Outcome of the pre-conference<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Organisation of NETWORK 21<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No new organisations needed, but<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>We need to provide a platform some forms of activity (workshops, sessions), organising thematic sessions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We might have invited \/ guest sessions at NERA, SERA? i.e SERA session at the next NERA 2016?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>invited speakers from sister organisations?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>activities between conferences to create continuity?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and social networking!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>=&gt; co-operation needs to be open and transparent<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-operation between sociologists and policy sessions, for instance every other year a joint workshop at EERA?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-operation between different disciplines \u2013 how is this possible? How to bring together education researchers and sociologists?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Immediate action:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>pre-conference at NERA 2016<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>doctoral students + some seniors (other than supervisors)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>abstracts and \u201dfull\u201d papers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>presentation and long round table discussion<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>does not exclude from presenting at the conference<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>could eventually lead to organisation of summer schools?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and social networking!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Long term action:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>short research visits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>joint publishing, for instance thematic issues at SJE, NSE<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>funding?
