Nera network 17

~ Leisure time Pedagogy

Minutes from the “Leisure-time Pedagogy” network meeting 2017

The network meeting included five items:

  1. Organisation of the conference
  2. Content of presentations
  3. IJREE – presentation of a journal that is well in line with the purposes of the network.
  4. Future conferences – future directions
  5. Other issues
  1. The attendants were satisfied with the conference but some issues could be improved and perhaps avoided in the future: it would have been better to use the same place for the opening ceremony and the presentations, mix key notes and sessions in the timetable, more guides with blue t-shirts, it was sometimes difficult to mingle and finding a place to sit and discuss between sessions.
  2. The attendants were satisfied with the presentations and inherent themes became visible. For the first time there were almost just as many Danish presentations as Swedish presentations which were seen as very good. However, regrets about absent presentations from researchers from Norway and Finland were also expressed.
  3. Item three included a presentation of a conference in Bamberg, Germany, in November. The theme of this conference was seen as well in line with the purposes of our network. The attendants were encouraged to participate in the conference and also to submit manuscripts to the IJREE (International Journal for Research on Extended Education) journal.
  4. The network was discussing the possibilities to arrange a pre-conference in Oslo. However, since we got that opportunity last year, in Helsinki, it was decided that we should postpone handing in a new application. Otherwise this would have been an opportunity for discussing theories, methodologies and schedule meetings concerning specific research interests. Instead the discussions were directed to the opportunities to visiting the network members’ universities. If this could be funded, perhaps through Erasmus, opportunities for Danish researchers to attend the Swedish network meeting could be arranged. This could also be a way to formalize teacher meetings and also to discuss research collaborations.
  5. No other issues were discussed.

Kind regards,

Björn Haglund, Network convenor for Network 17 (Leisure-time Pedagogy)
